Catalogue description

Rockface transforms geological forms into an energetic abstract field of colour, line and layered brushwork. Warm terracotta, orange and red dominate the surface, crossed by dark structural marks and broken passages of cream, blue and grey. The painting sits between landscape and abstraction: suggestions of rock, fissure and layered earth emerge without becoming fixed. Its dense, gestural surface gives the work a sense of heat, compression and geological movement.
